ACTIVITIES

 

Our club organizes many fun activities and events throughout the year. There are a variety of events that vary from year to year according to the direction of the club.

Annual Events include:

September/ October: The Annual Cocktail Party: A "Welcome to the Club" for new members and a "Welcome Back" for returning members.

October: Halloween: A traditional Halloween party for kids and parents.

November: Thanksgiving: The traditional American meal. Bring on the turkey.

December: Holiday Semi-Formal Cocktail (for adults only): Have fun ringing in the holidays with homemade eggnog and good cheer.


December: The Kid’s Christmas Party: Santa himself has been a regular guest from year to year at this fun filled event.

January: The New Comers' Potluck: Old and new members alike get to break the ice over delicious home cooked specialties.

February/ March: Presidents' Day Reception: The American Club reaches out to the local French community by giving awards to groups or individuals who have promoted Franco-American relations. The event takes place in the City Hall's silk adorned Grand Ballroom.

March/ April: Spring Potluck: Springtime brings a new Potluck theme every year. Mexican? Cajun? What will it be next?


April: Easter Egg Hunt: Kids and Parents love the annual Easter egg hunt which has been held at the beautiful Chateau de Longsard in the Beaujolais region as well as other locations.

June: Annual General Meeting: Officer elections and club business bring members together each June where a guest speaker is invited to address the group.

July: 4th of July picnic: Traditional American family barbeque.


 

Monthly or Seasonal Activities:

  1. Happy Hour - join a group of young and older members as we congregate in a local pub or bar.

  2. The Bonne Table Tour - monthly restaurant outing to discover Lyon's culinary establishments.

  3. Moms & Tots - where American moms with young kids can get together to plan activities and playtimes.

  4. Family Hike - head up an alpine path at a casual pace and enjoy the breathtaking scenery

  5. Ski Weekend - join other Americans for some serious and not so serious downhill sports

  6. Historic Tours - visit a local chateau or learn about Lyon's magnificent cathedral from the Chief Architect of Historic Monuments himself.

  7. Museum Tours - take advantage of English guides at our special tours of Lyon's fascinating museums

  8. Wine Tasting - body, color, bouquet. Learn how to appreciate France's famous libations from the vineyard.

  9. Cooking Classes - take home a taste of France by learning the secrets of Lyon's famous chefs.
